The wedding band
On Saturday, the 20th, Driving Music played a very special pocket show at our own Raphael Erichsen’s wedding party. It was a lovely afternoon all around and me and Melvin Ribeiro were more than happy to join the groom in a short and fully acoustic garden performance just before the tossing of the bouquet.
There were plenty of cameras documenting the whole thing, so hopefully we’ll find a way to track down all the tapes and make a video of it at some point. We were immensely proud to take part in such a special occasion, and we wish Raphael and Julia a wonderful life together.

In case you haven’t seen
Here’s a little teaser of what/how we might be playing on tuesday.
Record release show: new date, new venue
Due to the last minute cancelation of the saturday show, we’ve booked a new date for our record release party in Rio at a different venue. The show’s happening next Tuesday (March 16th), at Audio Rebel. Our friend mario maria will get things started around 7:30 pm, and we should be on stage around 8:30pm. See you there.
Record release show postponed
Due to ridiculous weather conditions (even for an indoor show), our record release party had to be put on hold at the very last minute. The heavy rain that hit the city saturday night kept 1/3 of Driving Music from making it to the venue, and friends from all around town kept calling to say they couldn’t even get a cab to drive them to the concert.
Under such circumstances, we decided to book another date for the record release show as soon as possible, and return admission fees to those who managed to show up. To honor their perseverance, we invited a couple friends to join us on stage for a free, completely improvised concert. It was an amazing time and the best possible way to save ourselves from drowning in the rain outside.
So thank you to everyone who showed up, tried to or even remotely considered facing the storm to see us. We truly appreciate it. As of now, we’re working on another date to make this happen. More on that soon.
They’re real, and they’re spectacular!

Record release show here in Rio tomorrow night. Check out the Live section for further information. Hope to see some of you there, it’ll be a very special evening.
With the guts it takes to start a start
So this is the new Driving Music website. As you can see, a lot of changes have been going on ’round here and our corner of the web should be no exception. Although we’re still tied together by the same name, this new incarnation of Driving Music has very little to do with the old Driving Music some of you are familiar with – although one could indicate this one wouldn’t exist without the other. What was once just a name under which I could release my solo demos – most of them, songs I had written for my past departed punk rock band – has now become a collective of artists and friends, who get together to find out new and hopefully interesting ways to shape the air. I’ve always been happy alone, but given the right company I’m even happier together, so this should be no exception.
Ironically or not, the old wanna-be-a-full-band sound has given way to something that sounds more aware of its size. The songs have now found a physical home (so says the pressing plant), although you can still get them all free of charge right here, and even the instruments – in the past, all softly cluttered inside my hard drive – come now with new impressive fatures, such as wood, steel and tiny pieces of plastic. Music seems to be physical again, and I’m not really sure that’s better or worse, but it’s definitely something I feel my body had been craving for.
All of this brings us here, to this new webplace you’re visiting right now. Our goal is to keep it simple and cozy, ’cause that’s usually the type of atmosphere that allows things to grow. This blog-like cleanness will slowly be filled with a frequent flow of content that’s hopefully more productive than larger than life flash animations or groundbreaking ways to fake desire for constant interaction. It is, basically, something to keep us busy, happy and alive. Welcome.
